  • About the Book: A Personal Journey. Many years ago, I began experimenting with batik as a painting medium. I liked the color quality and surface treatment of the ancient wax-resist method for decorating fabric. In my experiments, I developed methods to control dye application and manipulate the traditional crackled surface. The process is tedious, and most works require two to three weeks to complete, depending on the size. I have tended to work in series, exploring the same idea in several works. Sometimes, I have returned to a theme, and some themes have continued throughout my career. The works you see here are samples of my personal journey. -Leo Twiggs
