This catalog was published in conjunction with the exhibition, Selections from the Allan Chasanoff Ceramic Collection, held from November 4, 2000 - May 27, 2001 at the Mint Museum of Craft + Design.
Nearly ten years prior to the writing of this catalog, well-known photography dealer Jayne H. Baum approached the Mint Museum of Art with the offer of an extraordinary ceramic sculpture by Raymon Elozua. Acting as an intermediary for the donor, Baum also indicated that the patron would be interesting in contributing several photographs that he had made. The donor was none other than the New York collector, Allan Chasanoff.
The next encounter would forever alter the course of the Mint Museum of Art. Raymon Elozua, Allan Chasanoff's curatorial collaborator and friend, telephoned unexpectedly. In 1995, Chasanoff announced the donation of his 435 piece international collection of postwar ceramic sculpture and decorative art to the museum.
