Black Archives

Renata Cherlise’s family shared their lives through photos and home movies, inspiring her to create Black Archives—a platform sharing multidimensional portraits of people, places, and the Black community. The collection of over 300 images reflects the iconic and the candid, a celebration and exploration of Black identity and experience through the twentieth century. These photos tell captivating, joyful stories of everyday life and create a space for collective memory and kinship.
